The US FDA is expected to announce an updated “new” warning label for the drug, which will be available in the first half of 2018.
The new warning label will include: “Do not use if you are allergic to esomeprazole or other proton pump inhibitor medicines,” the company said in a statement.

Prescription and OTC Drugs: NEXIUM/LUPINE (NEXIUM/LUPINE) Pills
Nexium/Lupine is a drug prescribed to manage heartburn in people with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Nexium/Lupine belongs to the class of medications called proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), which work by reducing acid production in the stomach and reducing the amount of acid produced by the stomach (acid-secreting erosive esophagitis). Nexium/Lupine is used for adults to treat and relieve the symptoms of heartburn and other stomach ailments.
Nexium/Lupine should only be taken by adults over 18 years of age who also have GERD. The drug is not recommended for use in children. It is also not recommended for use in people with an enlarged esophagus. Nexium/Lupine is not recommended for use in children over the age of 18 years. It is not recommended for use in people with heart failure. The drug should not be used by people with severe heartburn and other stomach or esophageal issues.
Common Side Effects:Nexium/Lupine can cause heartburn, diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, headache, heart palpitations, and nausea. These side effects are usually mild to moderate and temporary. If these side effects occur, stop taking Nexium/Lupine and contact your doctor. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
To reduce the risk of severe side effects, it is important to take the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration possible. Do not take Nexium/Lupine more than once a day.
Nexium/Lupine is not for use in children and should be used with caution in these populations.
